The Ecclesall Library Trip for Reception / Year 1 will take place on Wednesday 19th October. We will be setting off from school at approximately 9.15am to arrive at the library at 10am.
Please note I originally posted we would be going on the 14th October. Apologies for any inconvenience and I will be contacting those parents who had originally said they could help on that date.
I hope at least 4 parents can join us on this visit. Please let me know if you are available.
We will be holding a Read Write Inc information evening for all Reception parents on Monday 17th October at 6.30pm in the classroom.
We look forward to seeing as many Reception parents as possible for information and guidance on how you can support your child to learn to read. You will be able to find out how we teach your child in school and how they will progress through the Read Write Inc phonic programme.
Look at some of the exciting maths we have been doing in Reception Year 1.
Try explaining what you have been doing. Can you describe the pattern? Remember to use full sentences.
During snack time we often count and discuss our fruit box (it’s great for mathematical understanding and language)
Is there more peas or pears?
(Remember to answer with a full sentence. We are getting very good at doing this in class now.)
Is there fewer pears or peas?
The Year 1 children have been working with their talk partner.
They have been working together to find ‘one more than’ and ‘one fewer than’
The children speak in full sentences e.g. One fewer than three is two. One more than seven is eight.
Thank you for all the wonderful signs of Autumn the children are bringing into school. You are all being so observant and enjoying the vibrancy of Autumn.
Just look at these wonderful photos sent in by one of our class. We will look at the pictures together tomorrow and you can tell us all about it.
Who can find out the name of the tree in the picture?
Look carefully for clues. The shape of the leaf and the seed cases may help you.
