The children are enjoying exploring 3 D shapes in their learning this week. We are learning to name the 3D shapes: cube, cuboid, sphere, pyramid, cylinder and cone and to describe their properties.
We have been playing ‘Guess the Shape Game’
Why don’t you have a go at home………
What shape am I?
I have 6 faces. I have 12 edges. All my edges are the same length. I have 8 vertices….
Can you describe a shape?
We also investigated the shapes today finding out which shapes were the easiest to build with. We thought about why this might be.
Please can you try to bring your child’s reading book and story sack on the correct day. I have tried to spread the children’s reading days out over the week so we do not have too many on the same day. As you can imagine our days are very busy and it is a time consuming job to check every piece of equipment in a story sack. Please support us to make this system run smoothly by bringing your child’s books in on the correct day in the morning.
Another plea – library books. Our book changing day is Thursday. If you want a new book bring it in on Thursday morning. Unfortunately, if it isn’t brought to school in the morning it will have to wait until the following week.
With thanks for your support.
As you may have noticed exciting things have been happening in our outdoor learning area. Lots of photos will follow soon.
Please could all children come to school with a warm coat, hat and gloves (preferably with names on). Please support your child in practising to put on gloves and zipping coats.
With thanks for your support
Your child has been allocated a reading day please see the table below. On this day they will need to bring either their blue book bag or a ruck sack into school. They will be issued a story sack and their own reading book and diary. These should be kept at home for the week and returned on their reading day for renewal.
I have included the Y1 children on the table below.
