Homework

Here is our homework this week, our newsletter will be sent out shortly. We would like to thank you again for your continued support throughout the first half term, we are looking forward to this half term and all the fun activities we have planned.

Year 1 Homework – Spellings for this week are offallsawwhat and little. Throughout the half term, we will also be learning how to spell the numbers 1 to 20 in words. It would be great if children could practise these at home.

It would also be great if you can reinforce this week’s work on direction. In class,  we have been giving each other directions, e.g. work forwards 5 steps, turn left a quarter of a turn, then walk backwards 2 steps.

We are also asking your child to tell you if they can spot an adjective whilst they are reading any book. (An adjective is a word that describes a noun, for example, the enormous elephant.)

Reception – We will be continuing with the story sacks and reading books. We will follow the same timetable as last half term, please can your child bring in their reading book on their reading day in the morning (see below) and their story sack every Wednesday.  Please can you make sure all the items are back in the story sack before your child returns it to school. Many thanks.

Nocturnal Animals

Today we started learning about nocturnal animals. We found out that there are lots of different animals that are nocturnal. We had a go at drawing some of the different animals and then we had activities around the classroom linked to some nocturnal animals. We still had our role play corner open with the fire station as we are continuing with the Great Fire of London in our topic lessons. The children are getting really good at putting out the ‘fires’ and recognising the numbers on the houses.
