Mixed Up Animals and Body Parts

As part of our science work, the children have been learning about animal body parts and different types of animals. The Year 1s played a game where they rolled a dice and landed on an animal body part. They then drew and labelled the body part. This resulted in some very funny animals! Have a look at our pictures below. The Reception children had access to lots of different animal related activities when they were choosing their own learning. One of the activities the children particularly enjoyed was creating their own mixed up animals on the iPads on this game – https://switchzoo.com/zoo.htm  They then drew their animal that they had crreated on the iPads and had a go at labeling it. You can see some in the pictures below.

Year 1 Homework

Spellings for this week will come home on Friday. They are wasfriendputcall and there.

There is a new video and related video on ‘Maths with Parents’ – ‘Addition and subtraction of 1s with regrouping.’  We are still doing numbers up to 50 so practising these numbers would also be great.

Thank you!

Fun in the Snow!

We have had lots of fun in the snow this week! We have been out exploring snow, making snowmen and writing about it using some lovely adjectives. We have been writing our names in the snow and seeing what happens to water when we leave it outside. The arctic animals have loved it! Maybe your child can tell you about the experiment we have carried out with the water.  Here some photos of us enjoying this freezing weather!

A reminder…

Please can we remember to bring bags/folders with  reading books and yellow record books in on your reading day.  It’s really important that we get to listen to your child read and change books.

Please can you also bring in story sacks on a Wednesday so these can be changed. In case you don’t have a story sack at home, please let one of us know and we will give you a new one straight away. Many thanks.
