- any kind of hat
Year 1 children should have brought home an activity booklet to do as part of their homework. We would like your child to complete one page of activities per week. Please encourage them to use the correct cursive letter formation starting every letter from the line. The first page to complete will be page 2. Please send the activity booklet back into school with this page completed next Wednesday. All children who complete their work will get a homework sticker.
The maths with parents video remains the same this week. In class the children have enjoyed cutting bread into halves and quarters. Perhaps at meal times, you could discuss how you might half and quarter different items of food.
Our library day has changed to a Tuesday now. Both Reception and Year 1 will bring home a library book every other week. The reception children were very excited to choose their first library book to take home on Tuesday. Next week (Tue 30th), it will be the Year 1s turn. Receptions will therefore change their books the following week (Tue 7th May). I will try to put reminders on the blog of whose week it is. Please note we can only change the books of those children who return their previous books.
The children have had a very special week celebrating Holy Week. Today they took part in a lovely ‘Easter Walk’ around school organised by our fantastic Liturgy and Parliament leaders. The children listened so carefully to ‘The Easter Story’ retold at the different stations around the school grounds., hopefully they will be able to talk about what they have learnt!
The children also took part in a lovely Easter bonnet parade yesterday and there were some fantastic eggs and bonnets made at home! Well done! A big thank you to parents too, we always appreciate your support in our events, charities and celebrations.
Hello everyone and welcome back to the summer term. We hope you have had a lovely break.
Just to remind you that tomorrow will be the Easter Bonnet parade so we are looking forward to seeing your bonnets or decorated eggs in school. We are also having a non-uniform day in return for donations to The Good Shepherd Fund. As part of this, we are having a Key Stage 1 (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) bake sale after school so any donations would be greatly appreciated. This is for a very good cause and we really appreciate all your continued support.
As we are not in school this Friday or the following Monday, the Friday readers can bring in their books on Thursday and we will change your books for new ones and give out your story sacks. Also the Monday readers can bring in their books next Tuesday so they can be changed too.
Year 1 Homework
There will be a new maths with parents video on the website. We are going to be looking at halves and quarters of shapes and quantities. Please can your child also continue to practise their handwriting if they get time, this week’s words are – like, come, said, you.
