Sports Day Pictures

What a lovely morning we had, the children were really well behaved and really enjoyed taking part in the different races and fun activities.  Thank you to all our parents and grandparents who came and supported us today. We hope you had a lovely morning. Here are some photos of the morning…

Sports Day

Just to remind you all that Sports Day will be on Thursday 27th June and will take place on tour school field and there will be our obstacle race on the junior playground.
We will start at 9.15am and finish at approximately 11.30am. Lunch will be at 11.30am until 12.30pm and will be eaten outside on the field. The meal choices on the day will be hot dog / quorn hot dog and chips, a cheese or ham sandwich followed by a chocolate crispy. There will be no jacket potatoes.  You are welcome to join in with a picnic lunch and the children can either sit with you at lunchtime or with our class.

We will send home PE bags next Monday or Tuesday so please can your child come dressed in their PE kit  on the day and then they can stay in it all day.  Please can you also send in a named water bottle/beaker. Many thanks.

Year 1 Homework

There is a new video on maths with parents all about addition and subtraction. The children have really got to grips with 2 digit place value so we are moving on to calculating with numbers from 50 to 100.

It would be helpful if children could complete the remainder of the spelling booklets over the next couple of weeks. Thank you to those who have returned them, they will come home tonight with your child.

Jack and the Beanstalk

The children have been reading Jack and the Beanstalk this week. They have really enjoyed the book and have enjoyed creating a different version of what happened to Jack once he climbed the beanstalk. The children also did a fantastic job of writing their own version of the story.

They also enjoyed planting their own beans and hopefully it will grow up to where their castle is!

Year 1 Homework

We will again send home some words similar to a phonics check to go through with your child (Year 1). These are a list of real and alien/nonsense words that test your child’s reading/phonics skills. The nonsense are on the back. The children will be familiar with them as we do lots of practice in school. For all the words, we encourage the children to find ‘special friends’, ‘fred talk’ and then say the word. There is also lots of guidance online if you search ‘year 1 phonics check’. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to see one of us.

Maths – During our Maths Meeting we are having a focus on 2D and 3D shape. A ‘Maths with Parent’s video has been set recognising shapes. Many thanks.
