Hello everyone, thank you so much for your support this month, we really appreciate it during this busy time.
One final note, we have a Christmas Party tomorrow afternoon and would be really grateful if you could send in a Christmas or party top in your child’s bag so they can wear it on top of their uniform for the party in the afternoon. Also just to remind you, if you have bought any party food, please can you also send it in with your child in the morning. Thank you!
If any helpers would like to help us set up and join us for some party food then please feel free to come in at 2pm. Finally , the school closes at 12pm on Friday. Many thanks.
We have have had a lovely week…
We loved taking part in the reindeer races with our Year 5/6 buddies organised by our fantastic school parliament for St.Luke’s Hospice. Thank you to everyone who sponsored the event and to the school parliament. After the races, we had a delicious Christmas dinner followed by the fantastic pantomime which was provide by the PTA – thank you!
To finish our week off, we visited Windsor House to perform some carols to the people who live there, it was such a lovely event. The children behaved so well and the residents seemed to really enjoy the carols. Thank you to all the parents who came to help. Finally we have loved taking part in our Advent Liturgies, thank you for all the lovely prayers too. Here are a few photos of our busy week…
17th and 18th December- Nativity
Thank you to all those parents who have sent in a tshirt. In case you haven’t, please can we remind you to send an over-sized white T-shirt with home -made stars on for Monday as we will be doing a dress rehearsal for the rest of the school. Please do not panic, these can be tinfoil or paper stars stapled on or colored in. Please do not go to too much trouble, they will all look fantastic! Thank you so much!
A final plea for helpers for next Friday the 13th December at 1.15pm to help us walk to Windsor House Nursing Home to sing Christmas carols. We will be home for the end of the day. Thank you!
This week will be the last week we will be sending home story sacks, so no story sacks will be coming home next week!
We have had a lovely week learning about winter and the seasonal change that occurs. We have also started our lovely Advent Liturgies and in RE we have been learning about Advent being a time to wait for Christmas. We ended the week visiting the crib display in the hall which was lovely! Have a lovely weekend!
The children will be having a Christmas Party on Thursday 19th December. We would be very grateful if you can send in some party food with your child on that day. We will put up a sign up sheet in our classroom window with a pen, if you could sign up to bring one item that would be great!
We apologise as we are aware that there is so much going on during this busy time but please don’t worry if you forget anything, we are here to help!
Just to remind you, it’s non-uniform day tomorrow and Christmas jumper day next Wednesday, children usually wear their jumper over their uniform.
Last but not least! A final plea for helpers for next Friday the 13th December at 1.15pm to help us walk to Windsor House Nursing Home to sing Christmas carols. We will be home for the end of the day.
Thank you and please catch us anytime!
This week instead of homework, we have sent home Advent Prayers. It would be lovely if you can write them with your child and then send them back to school so we can read them as part of our Advent Services and daily worship. Please don’t feel like your child has to write them, you can do it for your child, it would just be lovely if they can have a little input. An example could be –
Dear Lord please can you look after the elderly people during this cold winter…
Two quick reminders about tomorrow.
1 – Tomorrow the children are raising money for St Luke’s BizKids. They can bring in a cuddly toy and a small voluntary donation to take part in an obstacle race with their teddy.
2 – There is a reading meeting at 7pm for all Year 1 parents in our classroom. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
