This week’s book is ‘Pirate Pete and his parrot’. We hope you enjoy the activities!
Thank you again for the lovely photos, we really are enjoying seeing your children engaging with the activities we set and it it is also lovely seeing your children having so much fun in the sun! Thank you.
We had another fantastic week in the lion’s group. We explored our feelings through the book ‘The Colour Monster’ and drew and painted our own colour monster. We worked hard finding one more and one less in maths and we wrote some brilliant sentences in phonics. We’ve been lucky with the weather again and been able to spend lots of time in our outdoor area.
I took lots of pictures but unfortunately the ipad wouldn’t let me transfer them so I will try again next week.
Have a lovely rest of the week.
Once again the Elephant bubble has had a lovely couple of days, the children have been a delight! We have enjoyed learning lots of facts about sharks! We enjoyed listening to ‘The Colour Monster’ and discussed the colour we felt and how our moods can change. We also enjoyed painting and mixing colours.
Thank you for returning the reading books, please can your child bring in their reading book on Mondays so we can continue to change them weekly. Have a lovely week.
Thank you again so much for the lovely photos! We hope your child is enjoying the planning guides and the books read by their teachers. Here is this week’s planning. The book this week is ‘Shark in the Park’ read by Mrs Dalton. Many thanks.
Year 1 Weekly Spelling Challenge
Can you spot the misspelt word? Can you spell these words without checking? What creative ways can you use to learn your spelling?
I would just like to say Elephants have had such a lovely day. They all seemed so happy with the set up and really loved accessing the provision and the learning.
Thank you parents for preparing them so well! Please see the Year 1 class blog for Rhinos and Giraffes. Thank you! We will add some photos tomorrow.
We hope you have had a lovely weekend.
Please find the attached planning with links to our videos. Since some children will be back in school, we will be basing our maths learning both in school and at home on these lessons (although we will be adding and adapting when in school). We would like to co-ordinate learning at home and in school, if your child is in on a Thursday and Friday, it would be great if they could have already done the Monday and Tuesday lessons. Equally, if your child is in on a Monday and Tuesday, we would like them to do the Thursday and Friday lessons before they come in to school again. We have now changed ‘Fun Friday’ to a Wednesday as children aren’t in school on a Wednesday so it gives you time to catch up with any activities or just have fun! Again please don’t worry if time is an issue as we will be able to recap.
We’re really looking forward to seeing the children again! We have missed them very much.
We just thought we’d share with you an outline of how we envisage co-ordinating learning in school and at home.
First of all, if your child isn’t going to be in school, don’t worry. You can continue to follow our planning which we will carry on sending out by email each week, as well as posting it on to our blog. We’ll phone home regularly too so if there’s anything else you need, just let us know, and we can talk about it.
For those parents whose children are returning in their bubbles next week, we will be following our plans especially for Maths and Read, Write, Inc so IF you have time, we would be very grateful if you can also follow these specific subject plans at home but again we know people are juggling working from home and home schooling so we completely understand time is an issue. At school, we will also be making sure that children are happy, interacting safely with their friends and getting used to being back at school.
We thought it would be useful to have a few reminders:
- Please send in a packed lunch unless your child will having a school dinner ‘grab bag’.
- Please send in a healthy snack for break time and water in a named water bottle (as it specifies in the video, if your child needs lots of water you may want to send in two as they ill not be able to refill them).
- Please send in some spare clothes in a bag in case of accidents. We are hoping to get the children outside as much as possible so they may get muddy.
- Children do not need PE kits but can wear trainers.
- Please can all toys, teddies, etc, stay at home.
- Please arrive during your arrival time slot at the main gate. Please talk to your child about arrival and pick up so that they know you will not be coming into the school grounds. Staff will be welcoming children at the gate.
- Please return any reading books sent home before lockdown. We have prepared new sets of reading books for the children to use.
We are so happy about seeing all the children again! We’re going to have a great time together. As always, just email us if you have any questions. We would like thank you again for being so understanding during this time.
