Just a reminder that tomorrow is library trolley day. Please can your child bring their book to exchange for a new one :) Thank you.
This week has been very busy! In maths, the Reception children have been learning their number bonds to 10 so hopefully your child might be able to tell you some numbers that equal 10! Year 1 children have been busy finding 1 and 10 more and 1 and 10 fewer than numbers up to 100.
In topic, Reception have been learning about Africa, see if your child can tell you what the longest river is!
In Year 1, the children are learning about transport and enjoyed finding out about the invention of the aeroplane. Hopefully they can tell you about the Wright brothers. We also enjoyed a quiz where the Year 1 children had to ask Reception children questions about their learning and vice versa.
Today we had a fantastic guest speaker on our zoom assembly talking all about Eid which took place yesterday.
Once again all of the children enjoyed their session with Sheffield United today! Here are some photos of our lovely week. Have lovely weekend.
Last week we had a brilliant time in school. The children enjoyed another session with the library trolley, and recommended books to one another. #RFP.
The reception children have been working really hard in Maths on their addition skills and the year 1 children have been looking at place value within 100! We are so impressed with their resilience.
In Science the children learned all about garden plants, and drew their own gardens with labelled flowers. In History we learned all about The Wright Brothers and the first flight, and enjoyed making paper airplanes.
Enjoy some of these pictures of the children enjoying their time in school.

Just a reminder that it is library day tomorrow. Please could the children bring in their library book to swap for a new one.
Thank you :)
This week’s spelling quiz for ‘red’ (tricky words) is now on Purple Mash under Spelling Quiz Summer 2. Please encourage your child to have a go. In addition to doing the quizzes, there are lots of other ways to practise the spellings at home, using the steps ‘look at the word, say the word, cover it up, write it’. You could ask your child to write the word in sand, paints, felt tips, magnetic letters, scrabble tiles, in rainbow writing, etc.
We will be teaching the same spellings each week in school. The spellings for the week beginning Tuesday 4 May are:
are, were, you, your, they
Thank you for your support.
After lunch the children came into our class to SUCH a mess! They were wondering what had happened and we discovered a letter. The astronaut Helen Sharman had crash landed in our classroom and wanted us to learn all about her time in space and write her a letter with some questions. The children were so excited and it was such a fun afternoon.
We’ve had another lovely week in school.
We’ve enjoyed making pirate maps and searching for hidden treasure in our outdoor area.
We’ve enjoyed using the mobile library again on Tuesday. The children love discussing and sharing their favorite books. (We are only able to change the children’s books if they bring their previous book back as we do not have enough books otherwise.)
In science the children learnt about wild flowers and we investigated which wild flowers we have most of in school.
Both Reception and Year 1 have been working hard in maths this week. Reception have done some fantastic subtracting using pirate gold and Year 1 have worked hard finding the difference between two numbers.
We hope you have a restful bank holiday weekend.
Miss Locke, Mrs Dalton, Miss Chambers and Miss Riches :)
We are starting to set spelling quizzes for ‘red’ (tricky) words on Purple Mash. There will be a new quiz each week. You can find the first quiz under ‘Spelling quiz Summer 1’ as a ‘2do’ when you log into your child’s account.
We will be teaching the same spellings each week in school and will also be listing them on the blog each week. The spellings for the week beginning Monday 26 April are:
do, of, said, says, was
We will also send some Maths Mats home for your child to complete, they reinforce what we do in class.
Thank you for all your help. If you have any questions, please just ask.
It was lovely to welcome the children back this week and we hope you have all had a lovely Easter holiday. This week the children have been blowing us away with their work in Maths focusing on addition and subtraction and in phonics! We can tell you have been practicing at home!
This week the children had so much fun planting their own bean plant seeds just like Jasper’s Beanstalk. We were amazed with the children’s knowledge of what plants need to grow. We will be looking at our plants every week; caring for them and observing the changes just like Scientists!
On Tuesday afternoon we enjoyed a session with the library trolley where children explored a variety of books and were able to take one home to enjoy with family and friends.
In History the children learnt about the explorer Robert Scoot and his expedition to the South Pole! Hopefully they can tell you all about it. The reception children have been learning about pirates and enjoyed role playing as pirates on the pirate ship with Mrs. Dalton.
Here are a few photos of our week. We hope you enjoy them!!!

We are so sorry as we have just realised there are individual school photographs tomorrow and I am sure you would like your child to have their photo in their school uniform. Please can your child come to school in full school uniform instead if their PE kits but if your child can wear trainers that would be great. We will still have Sheffield United coaching in the afternoon. Apologies again for the change.
